Welcome to the New AZCEH Web Page!
We are excited to present our newly-redesigned web page.
Here are some of the changes you'll see:
- A new logo: You've been seeing the new logo for a few weeks in
various AZCEH materials,
including the materials for the 16th
Annual Statewide Conference on Homelessness.
The logo was designed by Billy Bridwell, and we think it screams, "Arizona!" - A new color palette, drawn from the colors found in the logo. Again, our goal is to use colors that are associated with Arizona.
- A streamlined menu structure, with buttons aligned across the top of the page, rather than down the left side. However, many of the menu items that you've grown accustomed to are still there.
- One of the menu items that we have tried to beef up is News. We will try to keep the news page more fully-populated from a wide variety of sources, and keep it up to date. We want to thank Andy Hall of the Arizona Department of Economic Security's Homeless Coordination Office for sending us the links to many of the news items on our page. We hope he'll continue to do so, and we invite you to send us news items as well. The best way to send us news is in the form of a link to an item on recognized news source or aggregator's site. Please send to coalition@azceh.org.
-
When you go to http://azceh.org, the
first thing you see is a "Welcome" page. The Welcome page is designed,
not to convey any information, but to set a tone and a focus on
the mission of the Coalition: it's not numbers, it's not programs,
it's people! And the faces of those people are placed before you
in the slideshow every time you enter the site. - The new page structure consists of a masthead with the new AZCEH logo, a column of photos (many of them are from the slideshow on the splash page, and are there for the same reason: as a reminder), and a column down the right side of the page with some reminders of current or continuing interest. The middle column, which is the widest, is for the contents, the meat, of the particular page.
- We try to use photographs wherever possible. Often the photographs are rather small in size, so as not to overwhelm the page. Please be aware that almost all photos posted on these pages may be seen in an enlarged version, simply by clicking on the small (thumbnail) photo in the body of the page. Click on the photo of Gov. Jan Brewer (right) to see how it works.
- In the past, we have posted many multi-page reports or stories as links
to PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format). Quite frankly, scrolling
through a long treatise in PDF is not anybody's idea of fun.
So we have searched out and begun using a new service, found at issuu.com, which presents the document as a magazine that you can read through by turning pages. Here is an example:
As you float your cursor over the graphic above, you will see a popup that says, "View in fullscreen." If you click it, the magazine will be presented as a full screen, with arrows to the right and left of the double-page that allow you to turn forward or backward through the "magazine."
You will also see, at the top of the screen, some buttons that allow you to zoom in (make the image larger) and perform other functions.
We sincerely hope that you'll find the new AZCEH web attractive, easy to use, and full of information!
