The Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness (AZCEH) provides leadership in statewide efforts to end homelessness
through advocacy, education and coordination with local communities and initiatives. AZCEH activities include
its annual statewide conference; coordination of focused service initiatives such as Arizona StandDown for
homeless veterans and Project H3: Home, Health, Hope for long term vulnerable homeless individuals and families, and Project H3 VETS for vulnerable homeless veterans; and providing education opportunities for service providers, policy makers and advocates working on behalf of men, women and children experiencing homelessness.
The Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness was formed in the early 1990s after advocates realized that there
was a need for a statewide membership based advocacy group to coordinate efforts around the state.
After 6 years of operating as a committee, it was decided that a separate non-profit should be formed to
carry on the mission of the group. In 1998, the Arizona Coalition achieved 501(c)(3) status from the IRS, and
the first Executive Director was hired. Since then, the organization has increased its presence at the state
Legislature, has become involved in the Continuum of Care planning process throughout the state, presents
statewide trainings at an annual conference, and coordinates the advocacy efforts of the local communities.
The Coalition works to end the root causes of homelessness through a multi-level approach. We work toward
ending homelessness by focusing our efforts on:
- Public Policy Advocacy: AZCEH works with local groups to monitor and respond to local, state, and federal
policies and laws that affect homeless and near-homeless people.
- Increasing Awareness: AZCEH promotes knowledge and awareness about homelessness, its causes and solutions
- Assisting the Community: AZCEH provides assistance to local communities and agencies that are responding to homelessness. AZCEH offers workshops, training opportunities, as well as access to resources and information.
- Annual Conference on Homelessness: AZCEH sponsors the largest annual conference on homelessness in Arizona.
